Holiday Progress...

The last few weeks have literally been a blur.... We have been very very busy celebrating Xmas with our families and friends and trying to do as much as possible to the house before Hudson's 2nd Birthday party this Sunday! We have spent all our spare time over the break at the house, and it shows :-) We are hoping to move in once the plumbing is done - so hopefully it will be weeks not months.  Here's what we have been up to....
Celebrating Christmas - Santa's been...

working hard...

managed to get this room gapped, painted and floor painted...

it will be the main bathroom.
J also had to fill in the doorway in this room as every wall had a doorway or window and we needed at least one solid wall...

view from inside the bathroom.
also had to add a breezeway to the top of the door - prev owners removed it and discarded when they added a false ceiling and walls to "modernise the place"

Dad scraping of the paint they painted on the existing breezeway that we removed form the living room to install in the bathroom

painting the floors in the bathroom - i will add more pics of this tomorrow it looks great! So happy with how it all came out...
Trav came to help again and opened up this walkway...

this is the view of the walkway from the kitchen...

the line shows how far it has to be opened up to...

again more pics to come...

We decided to fill this wall in and make the front room our bedroom so we can have a walk in wardrobe and en-suite directly of it in the sunroom/enclosed verandah.

the boys were clever and decided to join the timber from the picture rain so it meant the didn't have to run the new stuff all the way up to the ceiling...

view from the bedroom - this room is being painted cliff face too (my fav colour)
boys & Travis also opened up this wall - just waiting for a steel beam to be made to complete this job - you can see where the old breezeway used to be above the door that Dad removed and used for he bathroom as I mentioned earlier...

another view: these rooms will be the lounge and dining - as you can see the dining room is missing a ceiling (another job)
sad note: we had to fill this wall in as it will eventually be our en-suite... so sad to see the beautiful windows and door gone

door and windows taken out...

the boys hard at work... notice the beers in hand!

finished product (from the deck)

and inside view - timber was very hard to source to match it is very thin and chamfered on both sides, demo yard said at least 100 years old...
whilst boys were hard at work Katie & I were painting....

or masking windows...
lino being pulled up...

Hudson's room freshly painted and floor de-stapled (thanks Aunty Lynne)...

... thank God for spray guns!
Well that's about as far as we have come at the moment - hopefully with our week off next week we can get the rest of the house painted and floors up... fingers crossed :-)

  1. Wow you have been so busy and it is all looking FANTASTIC! Aren't sleepouts just made for ensuites, such a good use of space. So pleased you have been able to use reclaimed vj's as well as much as you have. Also are you able to enlarge your pics? Generally if you click on them once you have added them it will allow you to choose different sizes- i use extra large. Also while I'm being demanding, would love to see floorplan of your house before and after, makes it easier to picture what you are doing, even a sketch is great. Loving following your blog, so inspiring and very much looking forward to when you add all the pretty bits. mel x
